The Stones Post

Hi and welcome.

I'm a big fan of the Rolling Stones. They've had a few different periods in their ongoing career, but my favorite is from the late 1960s onward, like from Jumpin Jack Flash onward.

I've found some concert footage of them from their 1972 tour of America to promote the Exile On Main Street album, and I think it's them at a great time in their history, before drugs and other things dragged them down for a while in the 1970s. There's also a clip from 1971 that's got the same spirit as that 1972 tour. The footage in these clips is unofficial, so to speak, so please allow if the image and sound quality is just ok.

This is a clip of them doing Tumbling Dice

If you like it, see below for more clips. I took notice of the outfit that Mick Jagger has on in some of the clips - a jumpsuit with a big sash around his waist. I couldn't help but think of Elvis in his later years with his white jumpsuits. Coincidence or is that what all the rock singers was wearing back then on stage?

The First Post

Hi and welcome.

This is my first post, and I'm going to start with how I came to be writing this blog as well as give you a couple of songs to enjoy.

Basically, I'm a big music fan and I somehow got directed to a blog called Never Get Out Of The Boat that had a lot of interesting posts and music on it. A short time after that I read a short little piece in the August 2007 Wired magazine with some advice about launching a music blog of your very own.

There's a little more to it than that, like little thoughts, ideas, inspirations, and situations that occurred before those two things I mentioned, but that's about as far back in history I want to go about it.

I'm going to use this blog to write about music that I like and want to share with you readers, who will mostly likely be people in my life that I've directed to check out this blog and whoever else may come across this blog. Unlike a lot of music blogs, I'm not going to be posting MP3s to download, instead, I'm going to post links to musical performance on youtube that I've come across and have enjoyed.I may also slip in some other commentary too about other things. I also am open to suggestion from you readers about content too, so please let me know too.

The first piece I want to share is a song that I heard back in the mid 1990s. The song is Sucked Out by the band Superdrag. I remember the video for this song getting a fair amount of play on MTV back then. It's a power pop gem, but also a bit punk sounding too. I picked this particular song to start with because the theme of the song is all about doing something you want to do, even if it's only you who ends up enjoying it.
